Awaken announces new Awaken Royal innitative program
Lincoln, NE January 17, 2016 – Awaken eSports, LLC announces the inception of a program to form a equal opportunity for professional female players and entertainers in the gaming industry.
After we conducted and spent a lot of time into careful research and consideration into we believe this will give us the biggest impact in expanding the reach of the Awaken brand farther that what it has ever been. Remember as I said in late 2015, we at Awaken will be investing into new and emerging eSports and entertainment titles and opportunities and new things so these are based off of statistics and other factors but trust me when I say that these ideas show great promises for our future! There's no doubt that it's an exciting time to be in eSports, especially with the start of the CoD World League kicking off, the Smite Championships, but with the recent inception of Twitter and ESPN's new eSports branches, (@TwitterGaming and @ESPN_eSports), however we felt there was a crucial piece missing - a powerful and inspiring presence of women in professional gaming.
As eSports has evolved, a male-dominated culture has developed, Opportunities for women in gaming have been few and far between. The world of gaming and eSports has been missing out on what women bring to the table.
When we look at gaming, especially professional gaming, we all think of 4 guys hanging out together and winning championships in big teams like CLG, Cloud9, TSM,and Enemy among others. But it’s 2016 and lets face it, we should have realized this a long time ago; girls have a major presence and talent in the major titles and they’re pros at it just like the boys are, and we need to cater to the female demographic and make them aware that there are organizations and brands that are interested in building and developing powerhouse teams of professional gamers and appreciate them and their talent that they have and the uniqueness that they can bring to the table.
These awesome girls are going to be known as Awaken Royal, a fitting name that will surely show the royalty and hard work that they possess in them, although teams full of girls are not normally competing against others in major tournaments, these girls are dedicated and when the time comes, we know they will be highly successful in the Awaken family.
Players and fans alike believe that teams consisting of girls do deserve to compete against all boy teams. This topic is something that MLG may just have to consider in the future as teams with girls continue to evolve and the girls in the competitive scene become more and more talented on top of the tremendous talent most already have. It would add a bit of excitement to the gaming scene at events, just like in school yards where the boys and girls would always try to compete to see who is better.
One promising thing that shows the tremendous talent and dedicated, is CLG Red, which is the all girl team of Counter Logic Gaming, a professional eSports organization dedicated to competing at the highest levels in popular competitive titles such as Call of Duty, Counter Strike: Global Offensive, League of Legends, and Dota 2. The captain of CLG Red, is none other than 29 year old, Stephanie "missharvey" Harvey, which has amassed multiple championship wins with her all girl powerhouse team and Counter Logic Gaming has gained over a million global fans since it's inception in 2010. Before that she was on a team called UBINITED, which was able to take home the gold in the 2011 and 2012 World Championships in Female Competition for Counter Strike: Global Offensive.
Another promising thing that shows the talent and dedication is Team Unikrn, which showcases the impact that women can have in the eSports and entertainment industry, which has also amassed multiple championship wins in Counter Strike: Global Offensive.. With the inception of the Female Pro League and possibly MLG, which is now owned by Activision, implementing this into events in 2016 would grow the outreach into the community, and tell gamers, entertainers, and business professionals that, no matter what your gender is, if your dream is gaming, you can achieve it with hard work and dedication.
Awaken is going to choose a few female gamers as streamers and creators for the team. They may not be on the Pro side of competing, but they certainly will be able to represent in pubs and show how dominant female players can be. The lovely ladies that represent the Awaken brand as creators, streamers are going to be a great addition to the Awaken family and I hope you are excited for this!
Awaken eSports has been on the forefront of many eSports, fostering rookie and veteran talent alike to compete at the highest levels of their respective games. Currently housing teams and players competing at an international level in Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Halo, SMITE, and Dota, we'll look look to emulate their success following the recruitment of a competitive Call of Duty roster. The core of the operations for the team is based in Lincoln, Nebraska, New York, NY, and in Los Angeles, CA.
